2023 has been the year of the Mary Jane, and I’m not mad. The functional-meets-fashionable style has become a cross-generational staple, with everyone from Kaia Gerber to Katie Holmes wearing the baby doll-esque shoe. The throwback style, which has recently been worn by Taylor Swift, features a chunky sole and belted strap, bridging the dainty Mary Jane style with the sophistication of an Oxford; it’s what I’m deeming campus chic. And after now seeing it on both celebrities and the runway, I’m confident saying that it’ll be the next must-have version of 2023’s hottest shoe.
